The photograph shows a modern bedroom from this period including a bed, rocking chairs, bureau, looking glasses, a clock and decorative accessories around the room. A calendar on the wall is turned to August 1895 -- a likely date for the photograph. The title for this photograph is supplied by Henry Terry Clough's hand-written title on the back of the card. It also included his handwritten monogram which may indicate that he was also the photographer.|

The photograph was presented to the Shaker Museum|Mount Lebanon by Mrs. Julia Clough in August, 1950. Julia Clough was the former Julia Matilda (Mintie) Dalton, who joined the Church Family at Mount Lebanon on July 11, 1876. She married Henry Terry Clough, also a Shaker.
The photograph once belonged to Henry Clough, an amateur photographer himself, and bears his hand-written monogram on the back of the card.
